Café by the Sea

This is the story of Brian Swell, 19 years old, trapped in bedsit land in an unnamed British seaside resort. After being thrown out of home at the tender age of 15 he spends a few nights sleeping on the beach, and, after an unfortunate encounter with a stray bottle of cooking sherry and some Alien lifeforms who may or may not have given him an anal probing (he can't remember) forms a band and becomes a legend down the dole office.

The band plays a single gig supporting an up and coming rock band touring the nether regions of East Anglia and Brian succumbs to a staggering tea addiction which see's him stealing sherry from Tesco's to support his habit. Refused housing benefit by the people who do that sort of thing, he ends up looking for work and finds a job washing dishes for a masturbating criminal called Bernard but still daydreams of being in the band.

One afternoon he is discovered by a big promoter and packs his bags, preparing for the big time but fate intervenes in the form of a runaway mobile library and Brian is knocked into a state of unconsciousness where he relives his entire life all over again but this time he gets to appear on Blue Peter, Top of the Pops and have sex with groupies.

After several years he wakes up and has to sign on again. The Job Center sends him back to the Café by the Sea and he is haunted by strange memories, taunting him through his amnesia.
Was he in a band who achieved a small cult status and appeared on local radio, or is he just imagining things?
Brian still has guitar.
One afternoon, he picks it up and strums a chord.
It sounds good..
